P2S Training – Week 8 – Promotion via Popup

popup promotion

I enjoyed this week the most, because it took me into new territory.

The task was to install Link Supercharger, provided free to members by Simon Phillips & Randy Smith, colleagues of JT on this training program. It is a very clever bit of software which cloaks ugly affiliate links.

This then led to setting up a popup on our blog to promote P2S via a series of 4 free videos created by JT. Having signed up to receive these videos via the popup, the visitor would receive a series of emails containing links to the series of videos.

We were taken step by step through the whole process and personalised our own series of emails, which included our own cloaked affiliate links to these videos. Once the emails had been written and scheduled to be delivered at predetermined intervals (each day in this case), the Aweber auto responder sent them out automatically.

This was not a difficult task, given JT’s very precise ‘over the shoulder’ tuition, but it’s easy to make a mistake. We were shown how to test to make sure everything was set up correctly.

I’m happy to say that I managed to make it all work first time:-)

All I need now is some prospects on my list. I’m confident this will come in time, while encouraging more and more traffic to my blog via such activities as regular posting, commenting on other blogs and forums for the backlinks and frequenting the social networks. This is a continuous ongoing activity and can consume a lot of time, but is absolutely essential to building an online presence, drawing traffic to your site and generating a responsive list.

I have to say, with the help from other P2S members and the networking of all our blogs, commenting on each others posts, exchanging and requesting information on the members private Facebook page and members Forum is giving us all a significant kickstart. We should not underestimate the significant added value we are getting from this.

Apart from a few tweaks here and there along the way, this concludes the ‘Blog’ phase of our training and begin the ‘Product Development’ phase in Week 9.

Continue to follow my progress reports on this blog and as usual, I welcome all comments below.

Well hello Richard, great to hear you are able to push back your boundaries and achieve new tasks with a little guidance.

Even though you have no subscribers on your list, its a weird truth that marketing works like a crescendo, you will see little reward for your efforts for a while then all of a sudden the level of your rewards will explode and others will wonder how you achieved so much with so little effort!

Hi Richard, great to hear that you’ve completed the first 8 weeks.

I’m at the same stage as you and also felt really good when I managed to setup the Popup for my site. It’s something we’ve all seen on countless sites before but to actually do it yourself is a great achievement, well I think so anyway!

I’ve managed to attract a few subscribers to my blog (just a few at this stage!) but they have all come from IM forums. Are you using Warrior Forum yet because it’s amazing how quickly you can get established over there and before you know it, you’ve turned into a bit of an expert in some topics and some people start to follow you!

Just make sure to include a user signature so when you post people can visit your blog. Might write a post about this tonight actually…

    Worth a look.

Great blog Richard, look forward to more great posts.

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for tip. I joined Warrior a few years ago, but not been there recently. I was put off a bit by a lot of negative comments, but maybe I should give it another go. I need to check out my old signature and update it…thanks for the prompt…

You’re definitely going to get there Richard mainly because you have the drive to do so.
